Many years ago I took my sons to France for a long weekend, and along the way we passed through beautiful fields of poppies as far as the eye could see. Of course I explained about the battle fields and how Poppies had grown where every spot of blood had fallen. On our return to rural Hampshire, one son searched our garden and came across small patches of poppies and immediately proclaimed them to be a protected species. By the time I left in 2004 we had the most stunning borders. The poppies of every colour and hue had seeded themselves and given a riot of colour for many months each year. Must see if I can sneak in during my October visit and pinch a seed head or two!!!
Keep 'em comin Norm! As you can imagine, there are very expectations of your garden and allotment after seeing these. Has Eileen mentioned that we are fully booked for the guided tour? :)
