He's done it all

Having seen a few great sporting persons on your blog Paul, we cannot forget the man Schumi. Love him or hate him, he has done it all and many of his records will probably never be surpassed.

Schumi was the reason I stopped watching F1, as it happens (we knew the outcome before the race started). That's not his fault of course, but I think the sport needs some kind of system of handicapping to make all races interesting. Addmittedly he has been the best driver around for years, but had Senna lived longer, I believe Schumi would still be chasing his record.

Perhaps so Paul. I was a fan of the great man, Senna who, in my eyes could do no wrong. It would have been great to see both he and Schumacher battling it out on the track. Predictable some of the races may have been in recent seasons, but remember that Schumi went to Ferrari on the back of world championships with Beneton when he could have stayed on or gone to a winning team such as Williams or MacLaren. The prancing horse had not won anything for years until Schumi got there. I feel that if Schumacher had not been so succesful we may not have had some of the exciting changes to F1. Changes that were introduced solely, in many cases to make it more difficult for him to win so convincingly.

You are right Norm. I remember when Ferrari's never made it to the starting grid because the engines would blow-up during warm-up! It even Schumi. But when the reliability problem was solved, it became an even playing field again and Shumi was far too good for the opposition. Don't tell me we are the only two interested in motorsport?

Actually, I do know a former female pupil (a Drake gal as a matter of fact)who until recently used to go to her pub on the day of F1 races dressed in red and wearing a Ferrari cap. Alas, she never mastered how to access the blog and will never know what she is missing. Which reminds me, it's her birthday tomorrow!
